Support adhesive type of connections Create solid elements to connect parts Supports spotwelds in solid elements MAT100 4/8/12/16 Hexahedron elements Significantly improved spotweld generation speed Connection – Solid Elements

Provide beam section libraries; North America, Japan, Europe & India standards User can build their own libraries Create beam properties from libraries Beam Section Libraries & Editor (PreSys)

Topology mesh, Control point mesh; Modify boundary node Triangle mesh Re-mesh Modify boundary node; free edge option Add Washer, non-circular holes; drill holes 2-line mesh, Improved mesh pattern for closed lines Drag mesh, Using solid element faces directly Meshing / Element Generation

Create Arc –Split original lines; combine new lines Split Surface –Option to split both surfaces Sweep –LCS can be used as path Extend Surface Middle Surface Line/Surface Operation

Node Spreading - Along edge Segment Spreading; Inside region Face of Solid Elements Spreading Spreading – a Selection Method

Align node - for multiple lines Assign beam element orientation and offset Assign mass/SPH element value –LCS can be used as path Create SPH element from element center Support 2 nd order element in most functions Add more checks for solid elements Reorganize model check based on element types Node / Element / Model Check

CATIA V4 - 4.1.9-4.2.4 CATIA V5 - R6-R22 (V5-6 R2012) NX - 11 – NX8 Parasolid - 10.0-25.0.155 Pro/E - 16 - Creo 2.0 SolidWorks - 2003 - 2013 STEP - 203, 214 Inventor - V11 - 2013 CAD Interface Updates

LS-DYNA 971 R6.0.0 NEi Nastran Version 10.1 NISA Version 18 CAE Solvers Interface Updates

PreSys + VPG Overview Vertical Application Modules PreSys + VPG Modules are toolsets developed for specific applications –Provide a streamlined process in a consolidated menu group –Application focused modeling modules PreSys + VPG Modules are implemented as ‘plug-ins’ –FSI (Fluid Structure Interaction) Module –Drop Test Module –Safety Module –Structure Module

FSI Module Allows users to more easily build LS- DYNA fluid-structure interaction models using the ALE method Used for blast models, airbags, fuel sloshing, alternative energy, medical Easy coupling of Fluid & Structure Models 64-Bit implementation to make creating extremely large, detailed models easily Tutorial & Examples available

FSI Overview + Structure Model Fluid/ Explosive Post Processing Shock Tube Model

The proportion of model: 1, 1/2,1/4 The shape and relative position of explosive and zones The dimension of explosive The dimension and material of Zone 1 FSI Setting - Mesh Generation The dimension and material of Zone 2

The user can define multiple transition regions to ensure the mesh size compatibility between explosive source and medium. A preview mode is available to display the transition regions before generating the mesh. FSI Setting - Define Multiple Transition Regions

In this transitional region, the element size is gradually transitional The ratio value is the theoretical ratio value between the first element size and the last element size in the region. FSI Setting -Ratio Between Transition Regions

FSI Setting - Define the Material and the Property The explosive and the zones have been assigned the common material and property. The user can change the material or property by clicking the corresponding button.

FSI Setting - Define the Keyword for Simulation All the keywords related to FSI are listed in this tab A keyword editor is displayed when the user double clicks on “keyword” When saved, the defined list is shown as defined in the Card list

A specialized toolset for engineers who perform various tests using LS-DYNA –Consumer Electronics –Packaging Design –Aerospace Applications Consists of Task Panels that allow the user to easily set up –Drop Tests –Shock Tests –Vibration (Shaker Table) Tests –Indentation Tests Multiple input files for variations can be generated Drop Test Module (DTM)

DTM - Drop Test Drop Test Module provides many methods to help the user adjust the drop direction easily.

DTM - Drop Test Select the standard to define the drop test condition directly. Set the simulation height to cut the calculation cost. Calculate the termination time according to the simulation height automatically.

DTM - Drop Test The card option helps to set various desired responses easily, such as the stress curve, acceleration curve, etc.

DTM - Drop Test Submit the LS-DYNA input file directly Generate the batch file for different heights or angles

Improvements made to the Shock and Vibration sections DTM - Vibration and Shock Tests Vibration Test: Users may select PSD or Time Domain inputs Curve Selection / Definition Shock Test Curve Selection / Definition

FMVSS, ECE and J-NCAP Crash Test Setup Import Dummies from Library Create a Dummy –Create a dummy that can be positioned from a 3 rd party dummy (LSTC, etc.) Dummy Positioning –Drag & drop functionality Seat Belt Routing –Improved accuracy of the belt routing –Easier to use Seat Foam Deformed Shape Safety Module Features

The prompt pictures are shown when users select the regulations or set the parameters Crash Test Set-up Allows the user to import and position 3 rd party barriers and dummies LSTC Barriers and Dummies

One Model, Multiple Cases The most exciting feature is “One Model, Multiple Cases”

Regulation Window NEW Regulation Window Allows users to define multiple crash tests using a single vehicle model Controls the output of these cases Update the vehicle model and update several crash test simulations at one time

Regulation Window: Model Display Control Control Component Display Such as MDB, ODB, Roof, Ram and Dummy, Control Keyword display

Regulation Window: Edit Model Mouse right button menu on component allows user to edit position of the Barrier or Dummy Models

Regulation Window: Model Export export fmvss214.k fmvss216.k

Seat Foam Deformation Tool - Morphing Before Deformation Dummy Positioning Seat Deformation

Improved Seat Belt Positioning Tool Morph the seatbelt to the dummy body surface, creates a perfect fit on a user defined path Ability to control the seatbelt width / length Retractor and Slip Ring definitions Easy-to-use Interface Seat Belt Modeling
