1 2011-2012 Lakewood City Schools Goals Goal #1 To realize a full year of academic growth for each and every student during the 2010-2011 school year. To build students’ critical thinking, collaboration, creativity and communication skills in accordance with the important components for 21 st Century learning. To Improve Student Achievement:

2 2011 - 2012 Lakewood City Schools Goals Goal #1 (continued) Support, monitor and provide feedback to our teacher-based teams across the District. Address achievement needs among lower performing AYP subgroups. Prepare staff for changes in state and federal law that impact education and instruction. Develop and build technology infrastructure to support improved classroom instruction and in order to emphasize student use of technology. Proposed Areas of Focus for 2011 - 2012:

To explore all possibilities for increasing revenue that will have a positive impact on providing programs and services for our students. To monitor and prepare for the yet-to-be determined impacts of state funding support for the next biennium. To Provide for Fiscal Stability of our Lakewood City Schools:

4 2011 – 2012 Lakewood City Schools Goals Goal #2 (continued) To respect the difficult times we are all experiencing in this economic downturn. Identify potential program changes and staff reductions. Maintain support for the next levy/bond issue.

5 2011 – 2012 Lakewood City Schools Goals Goal #3 Maintain parent and community satisfaction with the quality of the day-to-day learning experiences our students are having in our schools. Be proactive in working with the community during the potential divisiveness of the likely S.B. 5 referendum. To Maintain the Confidence of the Staff and Community in the Lakewood Schools During the Challenging Political and Economic Times of this Next School Year:

6 2011 – 2012 Lakewood City Schools Goals Goal #3 (continued) Focus on themes important to our community: How well are our typical students doing? Are our schools listening to us? How well is our money being spent? Focus on Lakewood’s long-standing tradition of everyone working together and the critical difference that makes for Lakewood students. Focus on the opportunity that fiscal responsibility and maintaining the integrity of our educational program will provide for the Lakewood Schools to merge from this recession as an even better school district.

Monitor actions other school districts take as a result of the outcome of collective bargaining issues at the state level. Begin planning for the potential significant amount of work that impact the next collective bargaining agreements.
