2 National Costume The UK itself does not have its own national costume However other countries in the UK have their own distinct costumes, such a Scotland In Scotland people especially men wear the kilt, and tartan clothing In England one costume which may be considered a national dress is the Queen’s guard, which solidiers who guard Buckingham palace wear This costume includes a red jacket, and a big black furry hat

4 Gender Equality In general the is not much gender inequality in the UK However in certain aspects the UK still needs to improve For example issue is that ok women working after they have had a child Many people complain that they are help back at work after having a child Also women are often paid less than men, despite doing the same work

5 National Heroes Winston Churchill was prime minister of the UK during WWII He is considered as being the greatest prime minister in British history He is credited as being the only one to stand up to Nazi Germany And his speeches inspired the British people and led them to victory in WWII

7 Environmental Protection The UK has taken a number of measures to protect the environment One of them has been the establishment of the national trust to preserve historic buildings and landmarks from development After WWII the greenbelt was set up so that key parts of the countryside would be protected from development Local councils have set up recycling systems Within the congestion charge zone if your car is low emission you do not have to pay the charge

8 Wedding In England a wedding usually takes place in a church, although non religious venues such as hotels are becoming more and more common The bride usually wears white, this is due to the fact that white symbolizes purity and chastity This tradition was started by Queen Victoria The couple will stand up in front of a priest and make a vow to love each other, then they are officially married

9 After the wedding there is a reception and this usually takes place in a different venue Here people dance, sing, eat and be merry! After that the bride and groom go away on a honeymoon together
