Business Boom: Automobile Industry The Impact of the Automobile –New roads must be built – Route 66 (travel from Chicago to California on one road) –Houses came with garages –Construction of gas stations, repair shops, motels, tourist camps, shopping centers –Farming families could drive to the cities for shopping, etc. –Allowed families to vacation in new places –Contributing to urban sprawl (cities spreading outside the city center)

6. Farming Industry With new machinery, farmers were producing more food than was needed This made the price of food decrease (large supply, low demand) Lots of “supply” to sell – seller will sell for a lower price to make some money
