5 5 Energy.gov Updates Ideas for a streamlined submission process: New items can be added via inquiries to EERE Site Coordinators (Amy Glickson, Jason Kardell). If Site Coordinators can address, they do. If not, they contact CMS support. If CMS support is not able to address the item quickly: o Item is added to the EERE development request list for evaluation. o If the inquiry is a bug fix or a small level of effort, Atiq and Maura submit a development ticket to address. If the inquiry requires global development or medium-large effort: o Atiq and Marissa assess level of effort and potential value to other agency groups who use the CMS. o If deemed worthwhile, Marissa and Atiq approve EERE to present the request to DOE Web Council for consideration and approval.

Editable link text for non-PDF files to make them more meaningful. Article archives for older items sorted by month and year. Update or remove the “What Links Here” CMS feature (not working for all users). A gray-shaded box to callout content or images within the body of the page. Ability for user to expand a single image or gallery of images with the thumbnails in context of related content. Add the node ID to the “Find Node ID” section in the CMS so users can easily link to the node and not the URL from within the CMS. Deeper, more flexible top navigation that includes a drop-down menu detail (office-specific navigation options). 16 16 Website Maintenance A few months ago, we announced the new website maintenance review process. That process is on Communication Standards: eere.energy.gov/communicationstandards/maintenance.html Twice a year, you need to report on what you’ve done to improve your website(s) during the last six months. All offices should fill out this website maintenance template and send it in before Friday, December 5 to Billie.Bates@ee.doe.gov. Billie.Bates@ee.doe.gov www.eere.energy.gov/communicationstandards/docs/ website_maintenance_template.doc

17 17 Website Maintenance Example Form:

18 18 Website Maintenance We do not need an exhaustive list of every page you updated. You can give a broad, high-level summary of the work you’ve done, with your best and most interesting examples. On December 18, the Web Governance Team will have a special maintenance meeting. They will choose a small number of programs to speak to the results from their website maintenance template. The template should take about 30 minutes to fill out. You don’t need to fill out one for every subsite. You can fill out one for all the sites you manage. This is the first maintenance meeting. We’d love feedback!

19 19 Contacts Page And finally: EERE Corporate maintains a list of contacts on the Communication Standards website. This lists all the Web Coordinators and lead contractors for every EERE website. We’ve had a busy year, so many names have changed. Please review the contacts for your program: eere.energy.gov/communicationstandards/contacts.html And send all changes to Elizabeth.Spencer@nrel.gov.Elizabeth.Spencer@nrel.gov
