The British Librarys Electronic Table of Contents (ETOC) Citations for articles and papers (abstracts available for journals which have an agreement between the BL and journal publisher) Covers over 28,000 journals Over 45 million articles journal articles and conference proceedings

3 Coverage Wide-ranging –Science and Technology, Medicine, Law, Engineering, Business, Finance, Arts, Humanities Journals selected are most requested research journals 1993-present Updated daily

4 Access Free to JISC-sponsored UK further and higher education institutions and research councils NHS organisations in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland subscribe Logging into Zetoc: You will usually have to enter the username and password provided by your institution, but the precise procedure can differ so you may wish to check with your library.

5 Searching Search by keyword(s) Search terms can be entered in one field/any number of fields Phrase searching Truncation by wildcard

14 Inter-Library Loan A request page provides details of the item. Two options can be set up by institutions: to the ILL service provided by the users institution 2.fill in a form and print it out to facilitate making an ILL request

19 Zetoc Alert Email alerting service Emails tables of contents of selected journals Emails results of pre-defined search criteria on author(s) and keywords Email alerts sent: –the day information is loaded into Zetoc

20 Creating an Alert Specify an email address and can include a list name Can include hypertext links to full records Add journals Add searches Alert lists expire after 12 months but can be renewed at any time





25 Modify / Delete an Alert Change email options Renew list Rename list Transfer list to new Athens username Add/remove journals and searches Delete

26 Transfer an Alert Transfer a list to a new username if a username has expired Follow the URL in expiry email and log in with your new username You may need to navigate to own login screen

27 RSS Rich Site Summary/Really Simple Syndication Provides syndication or summaries of web content Links to the full versions of the content, and other metadata Supply link to feed reader which checks for updated feeds
