2 RW: How can we use questions and connections to help us as readers? Browsing Challenge: As you read from your fiction BB, track your questions and connections on post it notes. Finished: Read or work on your Readers Response Journal. Share time: What questions/connections did you make today?

3 WW: What is brainstorming, and where will we do it? Author’s Challenge: –Choose a topic on your “Things I Can Write About” list –Create a circle or bubble map about that idea. –Place a star next to the idea you are going to write about tomorrow. Finished: At the blue counter, choose which assessment you want to go on the SBBB. The one you WANT on the board goes to Mrs. Carlile’s table. The one you DON’T want on the board stays on the blue counter. Fill out your reading log in your reading journal. Continue to work on your draft. Share time: How did your questions and connections help you as a readers?

Author’s Challenge: –Using the draft on which you have been working, begin to edit carefully, looking for the mistakes you may have made and ways to improve your paper. Word choice, spelling, punctuation, lead, ending … is this the BEST writing you have ever done? Finished? –Turn your draft in on the blue counter –Work on another draft –Add to your “Things I Can Write About” list –3-box another writing idea you have –Have you been adding to your “Words for Rent” section?

14 RW: How can wise readers use context clues to help their comprehension? Browsing Challenge: As you read, track the context clues you found that helped your comprehension. Finished: Read or work on your Readers Response Journal. Share time: When did you use context clues? How did they help your comprehension? The sky darkened as a menacing rumble filled the air.

15 WW: The Writing Process: I’m done … Now What? Author’s Challenge: –Look back carefully over your paper – is it the best you can possibly make it? If yes – publish it! If no – fix it!
