2. 1. Catering Chef (and campboss) -Cooking fumes – may lead to irritations in the respiratory system, pneumonia and chronic lung damage such as COPD, asthma og emphysema. Also a probable carcinogen. -Cleaning chemical – can give cracked skin, eczema and other chronic skin problems. Catering -Cleaning chemicals – may lead to dry skin, eczema and other skin problems. -Some chemicals may be corrosive – check the MSDS sheet.

3. 2. Drilling department DFO -Dust particles when mixing – respiratory issues (tight or running nose, cough). May also lead to chronic health issues such as reduced lung capacity (fibrosis) and asthma. -Oil mist/oil vapor – respiratory, reduced lung capacity. -Mud – severe skin problems such as eczema and allergy. Roughneck -Oil mist/oil vapor – respiratory, reduced lung capacity. -Mud – severe skin problems such as eczema and allergy. -Dust particles when mixing – respiratory issues (same as above). -Rigwash (and mud/dust) – high pressure cleaning generates lots of tiny drops that are sent in all directions. These tiny drops can be deposited deep down in the lungs and damage the pulmonary alveoli. Ass.driller -Same as roughneck, but a bit less exposed because of time spent in the driller house.

4. 3. Marine department Roustabout -Detergents in paint: cracks the skin, may lead to headache and nausea. Nerve damaging if exposed long term(> 10 years). Easily absorbed through inhalation and skin. -Diesel exhaust: cardiovascular diseases, has been considered probable carcinogenic. Symptoms of exposure include tiredness, headache, nausea, stinging eyes and nose. -Rigwash (and mud/dust) – high pressure cleaning generates lots of tiny drops that are sent in all directions. These tiny drops can be deposited deep down in the lungs and damage the pulmonary alveoli. -Greasing fat – eczema and rash, especially on the hands. -Other maintenance chemicals: irritations of the eyes, skin and respiratory system. Assisterende crane operator. -Same as roustabout, but to some less degree. Kranfører -Same as roustabout and ass.crane operator, but to a less degree.

5. 4. Maintenance department Rig floor mechanic/mechanic -Hydraulic oils, gear oils, motor oils. Eczema and rash, there have also been reported neurotoxic effects when working with these oils over a long time. -Mud – exposure when performing repair work. May lead to severe skin problems such as eczema and allergy. Motorman -Corrosive chemicals – treatment of water. -Biocids – acutely toxic, allergy by skin contact. Welder -Welding fumes - Welding on black steel: respiratory irritations, asthma, metallic fever, pneumonia, COPD. Welding on stainless steel also increases the risk of cancer. -Grinding dust – same as above. All -Glue, spray, and other maintenance chemicals: chemicals that are used short term, but some of these may still lead to rash, allergy and airway/eye irritations. Chech the MSDS sheet and use recommended PPE.

Production department Process operator -Crude oil – contains benzene (0,1-1 %) which is classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic, toxic by inhalation, skin contact and oral intake. -Detergents: cracks the skin, may lead to headache and nausea. Nerve damaging if exposed long term(> 10 years). Easily absorbed through inhalation and skin. Maintenance personell (mechanics, cleaning personell, inspectors, drilling personell) -Exposure to benzene can also happen when performing tasks that include opening of equipment and systems (transfer, maintenance, sampling, inspections).

7. Look out for symptoms such as: Nausea, dizziness and headaches Redness of skin, itching, eczema and rash Tight nose, cough and irritation Use PPE relevant for the work task!
