THE THREE GLASSES AND ONE

WHAT IS INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN? Created by: Tanner Cleary Tom o’Neil Leronte Cannady Kacy Bryan

WHAT IS INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN? A systematic process of turning principles of learning into a plan Blueprints for instruction Difference between education and instruction Instructional design goes in depth on instructions to design and explain a certain task at hand.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE? TO PRACTICE A SKILL REPATATION TO GET BETTER EACH AND EVERYDAY  To learn  To adjust to new things  To expand and build your knowledge

THE DESIGN PROCESS You find out where you’re going by being able to look at what is going on and you’re able to organize it You will get there by following the plan that you have came up with by keeping that up will not steer you wrong When you see everything running smoothly and not skipping a beat will show you the success

WHO DESIGNS INSTRUCTION? Trainers Teachers Instructional Designers

HOW THE BRAIN WORKS Your brain has neurons, about 100 million Many types of neurons, many do different things They carry information Neurons that have never worked together need time to get use to each other All brains are the same unless they have been physically damaged or they have a defect Brain can always form new connections between neurons as long as the person is willing Can add up to be more than all the grains of sand on all the beaches in the world

ISD MODELS Instructional Systems Design Models – ADDIE Model – Dick and Carey Model – Kemp model

THE ADDIE MODEL ● 5 phases – Analysis-statement of the problem – Design-develop specific objectives – Development-develop actual instruction pieces – Implementation-training and teaching – Evaluation-was the lesson successful

THE DICK AND CAREY MODEL ● Identify Instructional goals ● Conduct Instructional analysis ● Identify entry behavior ● Write performance objectives ● Develop Criterion reference tests ● Develop instructional strategies ● Develop instructional materials ● Have Formative and Summative Assessment ● Revise instruction

THE KEMP MODEL ● Determine Topic ● Analyze learner characteristics ● Content task analysis ● Determine learner objectives ● Design teaching and learning activities ● Determine instructional resources ● Determine support services

HOW WE LEARN  The brain has a hundred billion neurons connected together.  When we learn something new, our brains create and strengthen new pathways through these neurons with impulses of electricity.

SYNAPSES Synapses are tiny gaps which the electrical impulses must jump across in order for the brain to learn something. Some synapses are very difficult to cross.

SYNAPSES The first time an electrical signal crosses a synapse, it's the hardest. After that, it gets easier and easier. The same thing applies to learning.

After a while, the electrical signals can more easily cross the synapse as they go over it time after time. Similarly, the more we practice doing something, the easier it becomes. Synapses
