Cigarsigars

 The first reports of tobacco smoking was 1492.  In 1868, the US requires to be printed or branded on all cigar boxes the name of factory owner, state and tax district in which the cigars were made and the number of cigars in the box.  1878-1915, the “cigar golden age.”

 Connecticut – light shade rapper and typically a mild smoke.  Oscuro - wrapper is very dark, actually black. This tobacco leaf is at the very top of the tobacco plant and is harvested last. This produces a wrapper with a very distinct, strong taste, which is too harsh for many cigar smokers  Maduro - can go from dark brown to almost black. The fermentation process for these takes longer than others. Don't be deceived by its looks. These are generally smooth and rich

 Ring gauge - This is the diameter of the cigar which is measure in 64ths of and inch.  Length - The Length of the cigar in Inches  Corona – 5.5” x 42  Panatela - 5.5” – 6.5” x 28 - 38  Churchill – 7” x 48  Perfecto – 6” x 52 (tapered head and foot)  Belicoso – 6.5” x 52

 You should store your cigars in a humidor.  Humidors range in shapes and sizes.  You should keep the humidor at 68-72 % humidity and around 70 degrees.  The humidors are lined with Spanish cedar.

 Cutter – cut the end of the cigar off so you can draw smoke through.  Lighter – light the cigar  Ash tray – ash the cigar

 Don't be a "conversation snatcher“  Know your audience  Talk on the phone... somewhere else  Don't tell people how to smoke  Buy from the shop where you're smoking  Let the staff members do their jobs

 Choosing a cigar is based on personal preference.  You choose a cigar based on taste and how much you want to spend.

 Filler: The filler is what makes up the body of the cigar. Long filler is a tobacco leaf that runs the length of the cigar. Short filler is usually cuttings and clippings from the manufacturing of long filler cigars.  Binder: The binder is made from a heavier leaf and is wrapped around the filler to start to make the final shape of the cigar.  Wrapper: The finest tobacco leaves become wrappers. These leaves are smooth and silky and are the finishing touches that are wrapped around the binder to give the cigar its final appearance.
