4 On the Job Training Mentoring – a mentor will advise the employee, pass on their expertise Sitting next to Nellie – hands on training, observe and then try Deputising – when an employee is away, deputise for them Work shadowing – observe another employee

5 Internet – interactive training and the use of CD-ROM’s Job rotation – broaden employees skill base Coaching – regular informative meetings to discuss performance Teamworking – work as part of the team to learn new jobs Project work – complete different parts of a project, learn of others

8 Off the Job Training In house training – their own training programme within the business Bought in training – a specialist company to deliver the required training needs External courses – send employees to service providers, study for a Degree, NVQ’S, management qualifications Placements – work in a different job or a different part of the business Simulation – an exercise programme, flight simulators, no real customers involved

12 Accreditation of Training Employees want to receive a qualification that is recognised by everybody, not just within the company. Trainees receive a certificate that is issued by an examining board, Diplomas, NVQ’s, by a professional body like the Charted Institute of Accountants
