8 Tokyo Tower A Communications and Observation Tower The tower acts as a support structure for an antenna Originally intended for Television Broadcasting, radio antennas were installed in 1961, making the tower able to broadcast signals for Japanese Media Outlets such as Japan Broadcasting Corporation, Tokyo Broadcasting System Holdings Inc., and Fuji TV

9 Cont’d Tokyo Tower now broadcasts analog television, digital television, radio, and digital radio However by July 2011, all television broadcasting is to be digital. The tower is considered not completely reliable in digital broadcasting because the tower is not tall enough to transmit the higher frequency waves to areas surrounded by forests or high-rise buildings.

12 Digital Terrestrial Television Going back to Tokyo Skytree, the technical evolution of Digital Terrestrial Television, we see Tokyo Tower being considered unreliable for this type of broadcasting. DTT is digital television broadcast over earthbound circuits, leaving out satellites. This allows for the circuits to be between the broadcaster and the end user, i.e., you.

13 Tokyo Tower This is at night and you can see how it glows and towers over the city.
