Christopher Szymanski 5 th Hour Career Tech Foundations

Introduction “Wow! This game is the best! Thanks for getting it for me mom! So much action in it, it is epic!” Have you ever wondered how video games are made by little microscopic pixels? How long it takes, but when you’re done, you have a masterpiece in front of you that you can control your own virtual person, item, etc. Also everyone would love it.

Where You Work At  You mostly work indoors in your own office and or cubical.  It is a clean environment.  You’re mostly by yourself.

Working Hours  Some jobs let you work your own hours as long as you do your job, like Microsoft.  Some jobs you have to work around 6 to 7 hours.  It usually isn’t longer than most jobs.  Sometimes 8 hours.

What You Do  You mostly sit there, draw, or make on the computer, games designs, graphics, people, surroundings, etc.  Not something for a person that goes outside a lot.  Can be fun if you like indoors and games.

Requirements  Must be very educated in science and math.  Must be a great at drawing.  Must know how to use computers and a lot of things on it.  Playing video games a lot can help with experience and ideas.  4 years of college.  I’d suggest C.C.S. (College for Creative Studies.)

Days to Work  You mostly work weekdays and have weekends off.  Some jobs give you your own work time.  Other jobs may have other schedules.

Most Played Video Games  Most played is FPS (First Person Shooter).  Second is RPG (Roll Playing Game).  Third is Racing.

Earnings  The first promotion is a game tester for around 35,000 to 45,000 a year.  The next promotion is a game designer for around 75,000 to 100,000 a year.  The final promotion is a game developer for 60,000 to 125,000 a year.

Outlook/Employment  The employment rate for the job is not that much but not to little.  You’ll have a chance a getting a job for this.  It takes a lot of work.  I don’t find that many people that want to become a video game developer which is good for me.

Work Cited  I got all my information pretty much a while ago from www.careercruising.com.

Backup Job  I chose a Landscape Architect because you still design and work indoors, except build things you would see in video games, into reality. This job has inspired me a while ago and I’ve always liked it until I found out about video game development. Now this is one of my backup jobs. So when plan A fails, you still have a plan B.
