1 Messages from the World Geothermal Conference in Melbourne Sylvain Broglé Manager Clemessy (Eiffage Group) France 22 June 2015

2 An international event which gather the geothermal community each 5 years: 1500delegates from more than 90 countries

3 Up to 12 concurrent sessions were held on a variety of topics. Session topics included: Reservoir modelling, Geology, Geophysics, Drilling, Environmental, Direct use, Business strategies, International collaboration, etc. Six short courses were held Five field trips were conducted in Australia and New Zealand. With the Melbourne Declaration the global geothermal community asks for more support from governments, financial institutions and political decision makers and emphasizes the importance of human resource development, knowledge transfer, policy development and the respect of indigenous peoples.

9 Geothermal activity: the good indicators Wells drilled for geothermal from to 2014: 2218 in 42 different countries 6% increase in comparison with the 5 year previous period 49% for power generation and39% for heat generation and 9% for cogeneration

10 Key figures and main facts 20 billion US$ spent in 49 countries doubling the score of the last period 34 000 person-years in 52 countries of professional effort of which 55% achieved in the private sector, 22% by public authorities and 11% by governments. Low development in the direct use sector Good development in power generation Acceleration of very low temperature geothermal business using heat pumps, around 4 times the direct use sector in Europe, North America and China
