2 B ALTIMORE C ITY P UBLIC S CHOOLS Introduction Much like last year, all principals are required to complete Mid-Year Evaluations for teachers by Tuesday, February 1, 2011. The online tool will allow principals to enter teacher-specific data and a rating for each domain. As part of this year’s enhancement, we are happy to announce a few new key features for this year’s Mid-year Performance Evaluation tool:  Document Attachment – the user can attach formal observations, PIPs, and a fully executed evaluation capturing the teacher’s comments and signature  Days Late – The ability to capture the days that the teacher reported late to the building.  Total Absence Hours – Self-generated from HRMS database. Absence hours will be computed for the current job during this school year. 2

3 B ALTIMORE C ITY P UBLIC S CHOOLS As a principal, what’s required of me? Evaluate employee based on the PBES process. Uploads executed formal observation reports, PIPs, and other documents relevant to each teacher evaluation. Enter days tardy for each employee. After completing evaluation, generate PDF evaluation and print. Obtain employee comments and signature. Upload fully executed evaluation into the Mid-Year application tool and select “signed evaluation” as document name. 3

4 B ALTIMORE C ITY P UBLIC S CHOOLS What If I’ve Already Completed Paper-Based Evaluations For those principals who have completed the paper- based evaluations (prior to this tool going live), the Office of Human Capital will input evaluations on the principal’s behalf. Principals can exercise this option by providing copies of the completed evaluations, 1 st formal observation, and any other supporting documentation to the following address:  Office of Human Capital  Attn: Leo Freyre  200 East North Avenue, Room #110  Baltimore, MD 21202 4

5 B ALTIMORE C ITY P UBLIC S CHOOLS How do I access the Mid-Year Evaluation Tool? Mid-Year Online Teacher Performance Evaluation System is available via the ERP Portal (also known as “tree icon”) under Custom Applications under sub-header Human Capital / Payroll. Your log-in for this application is the same as your network user ID and password that you would use to log into your computer everyday. If you need assistance logging in, please contact the City Schools Connect 443-984-2000. If you would like to grant access to additional users (must be qualified observers), please contact Leo Freyre in the Office of Human Capital at 443-642-4055. 5

8 B ALTIMORE C ITY P UBLIC S CHOOLS Mid-Year Performance Review System 8 When logging into the online system, principals will see a list of all teachers’ names at their school. Fields include “Full Name,” “Employee Number,” “Job Title,” “Certification,” “Certification Exp Date,” and “Hire date.”

Newly added – (1) Tenure Recommend- ation, (2) Days Late, (3) Total Absence Hours [System Generated]

10 B ALTIMORE C ITY P UBLIC S CHOOLS Mid-Year Performance Review System 10 After entering teacher-specific information, the next section allows for inputting information for each domain outlined in the PBES Handbook. NOTE: The indicator section comes from the Handbook’s guide. These checkboxes will allow for id’ing our best teachers & targeting PD for struggling teachers.

12 B ALTIMORE C ITY P UBLIC S CHOOLS Mid-Year Performance Review System 12 For non-tenure staff, principals will need to complete this survey. Results will not display on teacher’s evaluation.

A fully signed and completed evaluation with teacher comments must be uploaded. Click ‘Go’ button after selecting the document. Uploaded documents can also be viewed.
