1 Golf Club Kickoff Meeting Thursday, Sept 11 – Rm 146 12:30-1:30 “The COC may get you a job…but Golf Club will get you promoted” PROS  No try outs required  No skill required  Group lessons at driving range  Alumni Golf Outing  MBA Golf Championship Tournament  Learn golf etiquette from the best! CONS  No math  Lots of trash talking (see J. Finn) Don’t be the LOSER that passes up a golf outing with your BOSS

2 Golf Club Mission Objective 1: Ensure all students have an opportunity to become familiar with the sport Objective 2: Facilitate golf events for all levels of play

4 Golf Etiquette An understanding of the formal and informal rules of play is the first step –When should you be quiet? –Which order do you hit in? –What do you do when your ball lands in the water? –When do you yell “Fore”? Golf Club will facilitate a session for novice and intermediate players

5 Golf Instruction Learning the fundamentals of a golf swing –How do you grip a club? –How do you swing irons vs woods? –How do you putt? –How do you hit out of the sand? Formal instruction will be provided at numerous events at local golf ranges

6 Alumni & MBA Tournaments Participate in annual GSIA Alumni Golf tournament –Meet alumni and network –Test your golf etiquette and skills Cornell Johnson School MBA Invitational –September 18-20 th (2 nd Years) –Trip cost subsidized by GSIA

7 Weekly Golf Outings Informal groups schedule tee times everyday of the week –Golf website will provide schedule of golfers available each day –http://www.gsia.cmu.edu/afs/andrew/gsia/golfclub/ MBA Golf Tournament –Sweeten your resume with “MBA Golf Champion” –Teams will compete in the 1 st annual Carnegie Mellon MBA Golf Invitational –Individuals will be “handicapped” to allow equal competition

8 Membership Provide Sujal or Juan with a check for $10 made out to “Carnegie Mellon University” –Some events will require additional charges Club golf shirts will be ordered in November Monitor website for updated activities –http://www.gsia.cmu.edu/afs/andrew/gsia/golfclub/
