CMT3331 – New Media Dr. Serengul Smith How to Create a Free Personal Blog in Wordpress

Assignment Submission Guidelines This academic year, we are phasing out paper (or other forms) and phasing in electronic submission. In order to submit your coursework electronically, you need to create a personal blog.

Step - 1 Go to the Wordpress Sign up page. https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/ Fill out this one-step form to register for a Wordpress account. You'll need a valid email address to sign up for a new Wordpress account.

Step - 2 Enter Information to create Your Free WordPress Blog Account. You'll be prompted to enter a username and password of your choosing. You'll also be asked to confirm that you've read the terms and conditions of the WordPress website. Finally, you'll be asked whether you want to create a blog or simply a WordPress account.

Step - 3 To create your WordPress blog, you'll need to enter the text you want displayed in your domain name. Free WordPress blogs always end with '.wordpress.com’. You will also give a name for your blog and enter that name in the space provided to create your blog. The domain name you choose cannot be changed later. However. the blog name you select at this stage can be edited later.

Step - 4 Once you have successfully completed the 'Create Your Blog' step, you'll see a screen that tells you your Wordpress account is active and to look for an email confirming your login information.

Step - 5 When you log into your WordPress blog, you'll be taken to your dashboard. From here, you can change your blog's theme (design), write posts and pages, add users, revise your own user profile and more. Take some time to explore your WordPress dashboard, and don't be afraid to test out the various tools and features available to you to help customise your blog.

Step - 6 The WordPress dashboard toolbar will help you navigate through your blog's administration pages to do everything from creating/updating pages, writing posts and moderating comments to modifying your blog's themes and customising your sidebars. Take some time to press all the tabs on your dashboard's toolbar to learn all the cool things you can do in WordPress.

To choose a theme for Your WordPress Blog, click on the ’Appreance' tab on your dashboard toolbar. Then select 'Themes' to see the various designs you can choose from. You can try several different themes to see which one works best for your blog. Different themes offer different levels of customisation and also each theme offers various widgets you can select from to use in your sidebar. Step - 7

Structure of Your Blog You need to create 4 pages in your blog. These are: 1.About Me Details you need to include: Your Full Name: Your Student ID: Your Programme of Study 2.Coursework 1 3.Coursework 2 4.Coursework 3

Important notes Do Not use “Post” feature to create these webpages. Your Blog must be “Public” not “Private”. You mus t email your blog address to Your lab tutor within the first two weeks of the term. Your Web Blog may look like the following examples:
