3 PHILOSOPHY You Represent the Valley View community and with this comes a great deal of responsibility. It’s going to take your absolute best ALL THE TIME to represent those V’s you wear on your chest. “Enough talk, let your actions speak for themselves.” We want to accomplish so many things this year, and the only way this is possible is by giving yourself an opportunity to succeed. To be successful, you have make that commitment day in and day out. “You got to want it everyday, not just kind of want it.” You have to be willing to SACRIFICE with PAIN, SWEAT, and TEARS to reach the ultimate goal, DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP!

4 ATHLETE PARTICIPATION  As a coaching staff, we have discussed what it would take to reach the goal we seek, and therefore have set some “words to live by” in order to make this season a successful one: 1.Effort 2.Commitment 3.Dedication

5 ATHLETES CODE OF CONDUCT  Be at school, be in class, see you at practice  Stay away from alcohol, drugs, and bad influences (Guilty by association)  Stay out of ISS or AEP  Consequences for inappropriate behavior can involve serious consequences, such as suspension from Track Team If you have an appt to be somewhere, make arrangements where it benefits you, not hurts you.

6 COACHES ASSIGNMENTS  Coach Cardenas – In Charge of all Jumps, which includes High Jump, Long Jump, and Triple Jump. Will assist in all Relays and Sprints  Coach Ramirez – In charge of Boys Middle Distance, which includes 800m Run, 400m Dash and the Mile Relay for all Grade Levels. Will also assist in all Relays, Sprints, and Hurdles  Coach Salazar– In charge of Boys Sprinting events, which includes 100m Dash, 200m Dash, 4 x 100m Relay, and 4 x 200m Relay  Coach Leal – In charge of Boys Throwing Events, which includes the Shot Put and Discus  Coach Rivas– In charge of Distance events, which includes the 3200m Run and 1600 m Run for all Grade Levels..

7 DAILY PRACTICE SCHEDULE  Practice begins at 4:45pm  Practice ends at 6:30pm  Practice Monday thru Friday  DAYS OFF – Saturday and Sunday  Bring proper/comfortable workout attire. Bring Sweats if you have them.

8 HALLWAY ETIQUETTE  No “making out” or acting inappropriately with girls  No use of inappropriate language or foul language  No horse playing, can lead to injury (Javi)  Be Respectful of Students in Hallways

9 CAFETERIA ETIQUETTE  Always say thank you for receiving your lunch plates  Throw away your trash  Eat what they Serve  Don’t complain, it’s contagious

10 CLASSROOM ETIQUETTE  Cooperate in class by being involved in your class  Turn in all class work and homework assignments  Do not disrespect your Administrators, Teachers, and Coaches  No using your cellphones in class  When in doubt, go to tutoring. No Pass, No Play  You Fail, YOU FAIL!

11 COMMUNITY ETIQUETTE  Wear your Unifroms with Pride. Be proud of wear you come from, but not cocky.  There is always people that make bad impressions, make a good one for us.

12 BUS ETIQUETTE  No inappropriate relations with Student Trainers  No Food or drinks on the bus  No Horseplaying on the bus  No foul or obscene language or music  The Bus driver is always in charge. Keep in mind, he is working to our advantage. So be respectful.

13 RESTAURANT ETIQUETTE  Be Polite, Courteous and Respectful towards help staff.  Words to use: Please, Excuse me, Thank you  Be remembered for the good, not the bad  Clean up after yourself
