RESOURCES AKA - textbook ◦ 7 th and 8 th grade will be using College Preparatory Math – CPM Core Connections Course 3 Volume 1 and Volume 2. ◦ They will have a book and a toolkit to take home. ◦ Tests and quizzes will be teacher generated. ◦ E-books are $10 @ www.cpm.org ◦ 8 th grade students must pass the STAAR Test. ◦ Algebra will be using College Preparatory Math – CPM Core Connections Algebra Volume 1 and Volume 2. ◦ They will have a book to take home. ◦ Tests and quizzes will be teacher generated. ◦ Students must pass the End-of-Course Exam to receive high school credit. Think through Math- at home computer work.

4. Math Supplies are listed on the math webpage of the ACA website. Please make sure that your student has these supplies to bring with them to class each day.

5. HOMEWORK We do homework quizzes over the homework that is assigned. Homework help can be found at cpm.org and the answers to the homework can be found on the math webpage of the ACA website. Students highlight the five questions on their homework that we are going to grade when they arrive in class. Each problem will count as two points. If they did all of their homework including taking time to look at the answers and to rework any that they missed they will make a good grade. Homework quizzes count as a homework grade not a quiz grade. I do not take late work.

6. HOMEWORK There are three parts to successful completion of homework: 1.Work all of the problems and go to cpm.org for help. Come to tutoring if you still have questions. 2.Grade your assignment using the math answers on the ACA middle school math webpage. 3.Rework any problems that are missed and bring the work to class. ******Students who arrive in class without their work will be required to call a parent. ******Students are required to keep all math papers in their binder until we have a binder cleanout in class.

7. Think Through Math (TTM) ◦ Think Through Math is a computer program designed by the state of Texas to provide practice on the TEKS. ◦ Each student will take a pre-test and a pathway will be individually customized to help strengthen areas of weakness. ◦ Your student should work these problems with paper and pencil. They should not be allowed to just guess at answers. Students should utilize the online help that is provided. ◦ Each student will be required to have accumulated a total of 3000 points by the end of the 4 th week of each quarter and a total of 6000 points by the end of the 8 th week of each quarter. TTM will count as two quiz grades each quarter. ◦ Statistics indicate that students who actively use the website in the manner that it is designed reach the higher levels on the STAAR test. ◦ This website will be up and working in the next few weeks. Please continue to ask your student to let you know when they have their login information.
