4 Clinical Audit  The Health Sector has clinical audit and clinical governance  Social care sector is being brought into the system of auditing as a strategy to improve the quality of care.

5 Improvement or Monitoring  The care audit is about improving care, not monitoring performance and most audits have nothing to do with any external review process, it’s an internal self review process.

10 Introduction to the DCAT  The DCAT is available at : http://www.scie.org.uk/dcat http://www.scie.org.uk/dcat  To be able to use the tool the user is requested to be logged in with a MySCIE account (refer to slide 2)  To be able to enter an audit for the first time, the user will need to enter the Care Home Code provided by the DCAT project team

11 MySCIE Account set up When accessing the tool, press the link “login here” to log in or create a login. The sign up page can be accessed directly through the URL: http://www.scie.org.uk/myscie/accnew.aspx http://www.scie.org.uk/myscie/accnew.aspx To sign up, press the “sign up for a SCIE account” on the left hand menu of the web site.

12 MySCIE Account set up Full the form in please note that all fields marked with a red star are mandatory. If you face any issue finding your organisation name, please contact the DCAT project team.

13 DCAT home page The user is asked to enter the care home code

14 DCAT home page Here we enter the dummy code and press enter or click outside the textbox

15 DCAT home page You are now allowed to start a new Audit

16 DCAT home page We have to fill the information about the care home participating in the audit form in to be able to complete forms (Screenshot 1/2).

17 DCAT home page We have to fill the audit header information form in to be able to complete forms (Screenshot 2/2).

18 DCAT care home audit page The information form about the care home is now collapsed and we can start either the organisational checklist or a care plan audit. If we want to leave the form before the end of the questionnaire, we can press the save button and continue the form later on. The guidance document is available for download.

19 DCAT organisational checklist The organisational checklist is compound of 5 sections, only one organisational checklist is to be completed and submitted per audit

20 DCAT care plan audit (CPA) You should complete one CPA per resident. For data protection reasons please use the resident identifier (number) but not their actual name. Initially you will enter some basic details about the resident then the CPA is split into two sections. For guidance on how many forms to complete, please consult the guidance document.

21 DCAT Routing questions Some questions (in both forms) can be routing questions, which means that depending on the answer we choose, the following question to answer is different.

22 DCAT preview forms When a form is started, before we submit it, it can be previewed by pressing the preview button. Once we are happy with the form, we can submit it.

23 DCAT submit forms The form can be submitted only when completed (a message will be trigger otherwise) Once submitted the form can’t be modified and a view score button appears to allow us to view how we performed. The Organisational checklist score and the scoring for all submitted care plan audits can be viewed separately.

24 DCAT submit audit The audit can be submitted only when all it forms have been submitted. Once submitted the audit can’t be modified and a view score button appears to allow us to view how we performed. The Organisational checklist score and the scoring for all submitted care plan audits are both displayed.

25 DCAT score 1/3 The scoring is displayed on graphs. The organisational checklist scoring is broken down by section per section. To view the question per question scoring on each section we can either click on the bar for the wanted section, or scroll down.

26 DCAT score 2/3 The scoring is displayed on graphs. The care plan audit scoring for section one is broken down section per section and sub-section per sub-section. To view the question per question scoring on each section either click on the bar for the wanted section, or scroll down.

27 DCAT score 3/3 At the very bottom of the scoring page, we can find the list of relevant resources that would help improve on specific areas of the audit.

28 Printing the scores On Google Chrome browser, in the result page of the tool, either click on the print feature on the right hand menu or press “ctrl + P” to print the scoring view out.

29 Printing the scores: PDF version To print as a PDF, select the printer in the print dialog box to be “save as PDF” to obtain a PDF file of your score. Press save and choose the destination folder.
