32 Instructional Technology Associates Program 6 ITA’s assigned to academic department and faculty projects Positions require excellent communication and interpersonal skills ITA’s are trained by Instructional Technology Services before receiving their assignments ITA’s are compensated with free room and board for their services (a value of $4,700)

35 Improving Student, Faculty, and Staff Technology Skills In June 2000, Longwood contracted with Smartforce CBT to provide computer training for the Longwood community Students, faculty, and staff have access to over 200 training modules that may be done in a self-paced fashion. Modules are housed on the Smartforce server and are completed over the Internet.

36 Improving Student, Faculty, and Staff Technology Skills The class of 2004 was required to complete pre-tests by November 23, 2000 in the following areas: -IE 5.0 -MS Word Basic and Intermediate -MS Excel Basic -MS PowerPoint Basic

37 Improving Student, Faculty, and Staff Technology Skills The students have until the end of their second year to complete all training modules and post-tests. The results will be posted on their transcripts as non-credit bearing courses with a grade of P or F.

With the roll out of Blackboard’s CourseInfo in September, Longwood faculty put more than 300 courses on the Web in 6 weeks.
