1 Verbi riflessivi - Reflexive verbs A reflexive verb reflects the action of the verb back to the subject. The infinitive form of the reflexive ends with the reflexive pronoun “si”, as in the verb alzarsi _( get up ) The final “e” of the infinitive is dropped before adding the pronoun. Esempio: Lui si alza alle otto – he gets up himself at 8:00. The reflexive verbs are made of two parts; the verb and the reflexive pronoun. Both must agree with the subject.

5 Il significato dei riflessivi 1. “oneself”: –mi alzo = I get myself up vs. –alzo la mano = I raise my hand 2. “get...” –mi annoio = I get bored vs. –annoio la mia sorellina = I bore my sister 3..... (senza equivalente) –mi preoccupo della mia famiglia = I worry about my family (preoccuparsi di = “to worry about”) –mi rendo conto della verità = I realize the truth (rendersi conto di = “to realize”

6 Notate bene Mi addormento = « I fall asleep » vs. dormo = « I sleep » Mi sento bene = « I feel good » vs. sento bene = « I hear well » Mi lavo la mattina = « I wash myself in the morning » vs. Lavo vestiti la mattina = « I wash clothes in the morning »
