2. Si impersonale The si impersonale ( si followed by the third person of the verb)is often used for general rules, habits, and customs and can be translated as one, you, we, they or people. Examples: Alla mia scuola si parla inglese. (At my school we speak English.) Non si può mangiare prima di avere unoperazione. (You cant eat before you have an operation.) In Italia, si pranza alluna di pomeriggio. (In Italy, people eat lunch at one oclock in the afternoon.)
