3 Creating a Facebook Page for Your Organization

4 Getting Started Type “Create New Facebook Page” in Facebook search bar

5 Getting Started Select a general category for your Page

6 Getting Started Choose your Page name and a specific category

7 Getting Started Your new Page has been created!

8 Add a Profile Picture Profile Pictures on Pages act the same way as those on personal Profiles.

9 Invite Fans Invite people to your Page who you know will be interested

11 Editing Page Options Admins will see an Edit Page link is in the upper right-hand corner of the screen

12 Manage Permission tab What do you want your Fans to be able to do on your Page?

13 Expanded Comments Expanded Not Expanded Expanded comments are great for interaction, not so great if you’re being criticized.

14 Your Settings tab Do you want your posts to come from your Personal account or your Page? Note: Only posts from the Page will show up in your Fans’ News Feed.

15 Basic Information tab What do you want your Fans to know about your program? This information will appear on the Info tab of your Page.

19 Featured tab Are there other Pages on Facebook you always want displayed on your Page? Would you like to feature your Page’s admin(s) on your Page?

20 How to Like Pages with your Page 1)Navigate to the Page you want your Page to Like. 2)Scroll down to the bottom of left-hand sidebar. 3)Click on the link “Add to My Page’s Favorites.”

21 Featured tab Once your Page has Liked another Page, you will have the option to add it as a “Featured Like.”

22 Featured tab Select which Page(s) you want to display (left) and save. They will then appear in the list of Featured Likes (above).

23 Featured tab Do you want to feature any of your Page’s Admins on the sidebar of your Page? Note: This will provide your Fans with a link to those Admins’ personal Profile.

25 Marketing tab Would you like to pay Facebook to advertise your Page for you? Would you like to add a Like Box to your website?

26 Manage Admins tab Do you wish to add or remove Admins from your Page? Note: To add an Admin from this menu, your Personal account must first be Friends with that person.

27 Add an Admin without becoming Friends first 1)Have the desired new Admin Like your Page. 2)Find the link on your Page allowing you to view your Page’s Fans. 3)Select the Make Admin box next to the Fan who you wish to make an Admin.

30 Note: Apps listed as being “by Facebook” were developed by Facebook itself. All other apps were developed by independent developers.

31 Add an App to your Facebook 1)Click “Add to My Page” link in the left-hand column. 2)Click “Add to Page” link for the Page(s) you wish to add the app. 3)Click “Close” link.

(Developed by Facebook.) RSS Graffiti – facebook.com/RSS.Graffiti – Sends all Twitter updates of a specified user to your Facebook Page (@ replies can be excluded). HootSuite – hootsuite.com – Create one message, updates Facebook and Twitter simultaneously. A web-based application. Also has apps for Android, iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. TweetDeck – tweetdeck.com – Create one message, updates Facebook and Twitter simultaneously. A desktop application. Also has apps for Android, iPhone, and iPod touch.

34 EdgeRank EdgeRank is an algorithm Facebook uses to determine content priority on the Top News feed. A high EdgeRank score will ensure that your content is seen by many more people than your competitors' content. EdgeRank is composed of a 3-part formula: Affinity (u): Based on how often the user and the user’s friends interact with content from the Page/Profile that is publishing content. Weight (w): Each type of content is weighted differently for each user based on the type of content and the user’s past interactions. Time (d): The age of the post.

35 EdgeRank The default weight of different types of content on Facebook differs. Below is a priority list, beginning with the highest weight. (Facebook alters this weight priority from time to time.) New Facebook features such as Questions and Places Photos and Videos Internal Links (to Facebook Pages) and Notes External Links Status Updates 3 rd Party Applications
