2 Nizar Maboukeh, 20002 Desirable Characteristics of a System The system should provide info. that is: Consistent, Accurate, Timely, Economically feasible, and Relevant. These characteristics CATER to the needs of the organization.

3 Nizar Maboukeh, 20003 Other Characteristics of a Good System Establishes Standards. Specifies each area ’ s responsibility. Delineates actions and decisions. Easily understandable. Provides Evaluation Criteria. Identifies decision points. The system must also be compatible with other systems in the firm for it to be accepted and used.

4 Nizar Maboukeh, 20004 What is the “ Area Under Study ” ? Determining the organizational level affected by the study offers a generals road map as to the different management levels with which you may have to interact. This also helps you set scope and various objectives.

6 6 Area Under Study -cont. Level I: All decision points require critical treatment. Level II: Much integration is required between division level and firm level. Level III: Tasks become very detailed in lower levels. Level IV: Problems are easy to identify but difficult to resolve. Individual peronalities and human relations play a big role at this level. Level V: Only a limited number of people is involved.
