BP Matching Programs – Sally Kolenda, Associate Director & Coordinator, External Affairs

26 BP MS 150: Maximizing Contributions BP has two giving programs in the US that encourage employees to personally make a difference in communities across the country. BP Foundation’s Employee Matching Fund (Global Program) −Since 2001, BP Foundation has provided more than $4 million in matched contributions to the National MS Society  $3,965,480 - Matching Effort  $66,287 - Matching Time BP America’s Fabric of America program (US Program) −Since 2007, BP employees have requested more than $400,000 on behalf of the MS Society through the Fabric of America program Fabric of America website: https://www.easymatch.com/BPFabric Employee Matching website: https://www.easymatch.com/BPMatch

27 Employee Matching Fund BP Foundation’s Employee Matching Fund (Global Program) −Provides up to $5,000 per employee/per year through:  Matching gifts: employee monetary contributions  Matching time: individual and team volunteering  Matching effort: fundraising for sponsored events such as the BP MS 150  Employee participants can accept donations by both BP employees and non-BP individuals −Annual Matching Limit: $5,000 - If donations exceed employee limit, encourage some employee donors to submit an individual Matching Gift request and designate the participant (employee) name on their request

28 Employee Matching Fund Important things to remember about matching funds: −Matching funds are paid out after the donation is made; they are not pledged −Matching funds cannot only be used for the minimum BP MS 150 fundraising requirement −Matching funds may not be used for any registration fees −Employees cannot receive a benefit from the matching portion −BP MS 150 employee participants seeking donations from third party vendors and/or suppliers who do business with BP should not have direct responsibility for the contract or relationship −No “double dipping” - BP MS 150 employee participants should ensure that BP employees donating to them do not submit an individual matching request as well  A list of donors and donation amounts should be attached to participant’s Matching Effort request upon completion of the event

29 Employee Matching Fund Donations cannot be pooled and given to a BP MS 150 employee participant for submission −For example, a contractor and/or family member participating in the ride cannot give money collected to BP employee for submission The Matching Time component can be used for those BP employees who are not riding but volunteering their time for the event −Volunteer time is combined on one individual Team Time request −Team Time does not count against an employee’s $5,000 annual matching limit Agency name as it appears on matching website: National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Houston, Texas

30 Fabric of America Each year, BP allows each of its US-based employees to direct $300 of corporate funds to their charitable program of choice −Funds can be given to one organization or split into two $150 grants −Employees can support everything from little leagues and local nonprofits to schools, debate teams, bands and science clubs Unlike the Matching Program, Fabric of America does not require employee time or money Fabric of America funds may only be used for the minimum BP MS 150 fundraising requirement for BP employees who are participating in the ride Fabric of America funds may not be used for any registration fees Fabric of America funds cannot be matched BP MS 150 participant (employee) must ensure that Fabric of America and matching funds are reported separately to the National MS Society

31 Fabric of America How to use Fabric of America funds for BP MS 150 fundraising: 1.Log into the website using BP credentials: https://www.easymatch.com/BPFabric 2.Find the agency name as it appears on the website: National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Houston, TX 3.When making the request, be sure to designate the BP MS 150 participant name in the description 4.Within six weeks, a check will be sent to the employee that made the request a.If YOU made the request, simply submit the check to the National MS Society with your information so it can be credited to your account b.If another employee made the request, have them give you the check, which you will submit directly to the National MS Society
