8 History of JAS Worldwide
Founding to 1980s 1978 The beginnings of the JAS Group stretches back to 1978 with the launch of JAS Jet Air Service, providing freight forwarding services between Japan and Italy. During the first decade of operation the company focused on the Europe/Far East trade, eventually leading the pack in freight forwarding between Europe and Japan. 1988 By 1988, JAS became the No. 1 IATA licensed air freight forwarder in Italy. Late 1980s to 1990s   The late 1980s and 1990s saw the expansion of the Group network from Europe and the Far East to North and South America, as it established a truly global presence. JAS also invested in a series of logistics facilities in key gateway hubs to service its own operations. The New Millennium   Moving forward with an eye to continued growth, JAS is expanding its facilities and leveraging information technology to take its business to new heights. 2008 JAS’ 30th anniversary. 2009 Concluded a massive reorganization , transformed the JAS group of companies into one   global organization. 2010 Opened new corporate training campus in Atlanta, GA (USA). 2011 Headquartered in Bremen, Germany, JasProjects opened as a new independent division.
