3 What is Engineers Without Borders? Student driven service organization- promotes sustainable engineering projects in developing communities. We are active internationally (Mexico, Costa Rica), and locally in the Bryan/College Station area We offer great training, resources, responsibility, leadership opportunities, international travel opportunities (lots of good stuff). 10 Local Projects Scotty’s House Project Collaboration with architecture class and the Society of Petroleum Engineers  build a playground for Child Advocacy Center! We finalize design, fabricate, implement! Children’s Museum of Bryan We have our own ‘Engineers Without Borders’ Room! Design cool stuff, build it, install it! Other Local Projects coming up this year: Container clinic, Duck Jam, Still Creek Ranch Training/involvement activities: Replant, Big Event, Habitat for Humanity build day

11 What is Development? THE FOCUS: Allow EWB-TAMU to do more, and to do everything better Improve and build on the reasons that EWB is the best organization on campus Give our members the best experience possible Build our members skills Innovate Serve Others Enhance the Projects Team We are trying to improve, but we will only succeed if we: Have clearly defined goals and expectations Understand where we have been, and have learned from (and documented) our experiential knowledge (by far one of our most valuable assets) We will be making a plan of how we will go about making EWB-TAMU the best it can be

13 Soap Box Derby: The AGGIE 500 Last semester was a huge success! This semester- 2 ND annual Derby! We need people to join the Soap Box team for planning, organizing and coordination!

14 Amanda’s Updates! 1. EWB Mentor Program - What is it? Opportunity for upperclassmen to mentor younger students Way to transfer knowledge/tips on college life, engineering classes, EWB, etc Chance to make new friends! Sign-up sheet available Contact Amanda Roberts for more information 2. First social will be next Friday, September 17 th. More details to come… 3. We need t-shirt ideas! Please send them to internal.ewbtamu@gmail.com by next Friday. Winner will receive a prize! 4. Next meeting is on September 23 rd ! Things to do before then: Resume- have career center help you (Koldus) 1 page, prove your skills, be honest Mock Interview – sign up at Koldus! Great practice; they will critique you Research- hireaggies.com, company websites, career center website articles, google, etc Present yourself- dress business casual, firm hand shake, eye contact
