3 Facts about STDs STDs = Sexually Transmitted Diseases Acquired thru intimate sexual contact (vaginal, anal or oral sex) with infected person Very contagious diseases Not acquired from hugging

4 Symptoms of STDs May not have any! Burning when urinating Discharge from genitals Sores, bumps, blisters in genital area Itching in or around genitals Bleeding or cramps (between periods)

5 Not all STDs have sores that can be seen! If you’re sexually active, you’re at risk! It make take YEARS for symptoms to appear!

6 Examples of STDs Gonorrhea Chlamydia HIV and AIDS Syphilis Genital Herpes Genital Warts

7 Gonorrhea (“Clap”) Signs & Symptoms: Discharge from genitals Burning or pain with urination Lower abdomen pain Bleeding between periods Swollen Bartholin’s Gland Fever (late in disease)
