5 Arrival Car drop off in the back-teachers will be there to direct your child to class If you want to walk your child to class please park in the front & check in at the office Dismissal Car Rider-Walker-Day Care-Bus-Champions Car tag is a must Ride changes must be from the parent in writing or called in to the office ***Be prepared on the first day of school to let your teacher know how your child will get home!

7 Kick Start Kindergarten!

8 Let’s Kick Start Reading! READ EVERY DAY! Learning can be fun and casual! You don’t have to be a teacher to teach! Touch the letters on the letter chart, say the letter, the picture that goes with it, and the sound ***Letter sounds don’t end with “u”! Look in your favorite book, on food labels, on street signs and billboards. Write the letters in shaving cream Make the letters in play dough Write the letters with your finger in the palm of your hand Play with magnetic letters Use bath paints to write letters in the bathtub Use sidewalk chalk to write the letters of your name Paint letters with water on your driveway Find letters in newspapers and magazines Finger write on your friend’s back Write letters in the air with a magic wand Squeeze some hair gel and glitter in a Ziploc and write your letters on the bag Write your letters with your finger in pudding Use cooked spaghetti to make the letters Keep a journal. Draw something you did today and write a “story” about it Say the letters in a few sight words Write your name and all the letters on paper. ***Handwriting paper will help with correct letter formation and is available at most dollar stores and Walmart!

9 Let’s Kick Start Handwriting! WRITE SOMETHING EVERY DAY! Play with play dough Use tweezers to move small things Use clothespins to pick up cotton balls Use tiny broken crayons to make a picture Cut out coupons Draw squiggly lines on paper to cut out Cut out coloring pages Squeeze a stress ball Shoot a water gun to write on the sidewalk String fruit loops, cheerios or pasta on a necklace Click legos together and take them apart Write the sight words from our list Write your name over and over and over! Be sure to emphasize Capital first letter and lower case letters following.

10 Let’s Kick Start Math! COUNT EVERY DAY! ***Counting a pile VS. Counting/Number ID VS Counting Look in your favorite book, on food labels, on street signs and billboards. Use all the letter activities like shaving cream, spaghetti, bath paint, and play dough Cut out numbers from newspapers and magazines then line them up in order Write a number on an index card and make a pile to match the number Set the table for every person in your table Make & count collections (shells, rocks, toys) 1:1 counting Count the letters in your name Add & Subtract using objects Count your food before you eat it (goldfish, fruit snacks, cereals) Write the numbers with a pencil Card games Dominos Dice ***Subitizing
