How many people are there all together ? Pre-Reading Go to the public library to get a library card. Check out a book. Language Have someone read your library book to you. Remember the name of your book, so you can tell the class. Motor Skills Trace around the bottom of a drinking glass to make a circle. Cut out the circle. How many circles are there?? Math Find all the objects in the kitchen that are shaped like a circle. Can you name all of them? Pre-Reading Look around your house and find all the things that go together. For example, shoes and socks, cup, and saucer. Language Cut a picture out of an old magazine. Tell someone a story about it. Math Count the buttons on your clothing. How many are there? Do they all look alike? Pre-Reading Look in the basket of clean laundry. Find the socks that match. Put them together. Motor Skills Walk forward on a straight line, a zigzag line and a circle. Can you do it backwards? Language Tell someone your first and last name in a complete sentence. Math Look for things in your house that are shaped like a triangle. What color are they? Find the same letter on signs, in the newspaper or in a book. Handwriting Have someone write your first name. Count it 3 times. Draw a picture of yourself on your paper. Pre-Reading Cut out pictures of things you would like to have from a catalog. Tell about them in complete sentences. Language Have someone say action words and you act them out. Like: clap, jump, run, skip, blink, etc. Math Set the table for dinner. Give each member of your family a plate, a knife, a fork, and a spoon. Motor Skills Practice tying your shoes. Is it easy? Is it hard? Math Write the numerals on individual paper plates. Put out a small pile of beans, buttons, or raisins. On each plate, place the correct number of objects. Motor Skills Put some sand in a shoe box top. Write your name in the sand with your finger. Math Have someone put 5 pieces of silverware in a row. Make another row that looks just like it. Language Tell someone what you want to do during the holidays in complete sentences. Math Put the following items in the bathtub with you: sponge, penny, plastic lid, rubber band, toy, crayon, empty plastic bottle, and a button. Which ones float? Which ones sink?
