Work with a partner... (groups of 2 or 3 if we have odd #) Determine roles & duties: Ex. Someone can get the composer facts & the other person can get the history facts. One person types & other person does the main speaking @ the presentation.

Decide on a style: Congratulations! The Society of American Music has established “The Museum of Music.” They have hired you to find information for them. Your job is to find information that will help them create an area in their museum dedicated to a style of music. You will be finding information about a particular Era or Time Period, which will also include information about various musicians. You need to research your Era and Musicians from that time and create a PowerPoint presentation for them. The better your research and work, the more you get paid by the Society! $ NOTICE HOW THIS SLIDE HAS TOO MANY WORDS!

Use the resource links: I’ve given you various “links” to find your materials. PLEASE only use these links when doing research. Do not click on “links” of “links.”

History then Biography: Your slide presentation should first include information about the Era or music history facts, including various musicians. Once you’ve set up the “times,” you can continue with the Biography about your musicians! Tell us about all of them!

Create your PowerPoint: Be sure to follow the Rubric (Assessment) There are specific guidelines for creating this presentation. Be sure to check “Spelling.” Make the presentation “fun” with special effects – transitions & colors, AFTER you have the information. Don’t forget to Spell check!

Just like this! This PowerPoint has transitions that you may use! It also has more than 5 graphics. This PowerPoint has a Title page with credits @ the end. [Criteria for an “A”]

Timeline for working: 2 Music classes for “research” 2 Music classes for “creating” 2 Music classes for “presenting” the final project. Your projects will be gathered and put on my computer.

Work from home? Sure! (If you want to...) You can always access the Style WebQuest on the internet and write down your information on a separate paper. Then bring that information to school! Remember to ONLY use links & graphics that have been included.

Presentation: Following your presentation, all students should be prepared to answer the following: Why did you choose this style? OR What did you learn about your musicians that surprised you?

Congratulations! Hopefully you learned some things about various styles of music and their musicians! I hope you enjoy this in-school project. 21 st Century Skills: Working on teams, making connections, using technology & communicating.

Credits: All material taken from and related to the Style WebQuest for 5 th Grade @ Mr. Turner’s website. You would copy & paste other website links that you used on this page. http://www.webquest.org http://www.flickr.com
