Eggs-periment

Day 1 Materials: Tape 2 Beakers 2 Eggs White Vinegar String Ruler (Metric System) Balance

Question? (Day 1) What happens to an egg when it is put into vinegar for a few days?

Hypothesis (Day 1) Answer the following to form your Hypothesis: - What do you think will happen to the egg after being put into vinegar for a few days?

Day 1-Procedure: 1.Measure the eggs around the middle. (use string and ruler) 2.Measure the mass of each egg with a balance. Record in notebook. 3.Carefully, put egg in labeled beaker and cover with vinegar. Put in fridge and record observations.

Day 1-Data Egg A – Quantitative Observations: Length ______ cm – (around middle) Mass ________ g – Qualitative Observations? 5 senses

Day 1-Data Egg B – Quantitative Observations: Length ______ cm – (around middle) Mass ________ g – Qualitative Observations? 5 senses

Day 2 Materials: 2 Eggs Clear Corn Syrup String Ruler (Metric System) Balance

Day 2-Data Egg A – Quantitative Observations: Length ______ cm – (around middle) Mass ________ g – Qualitative Observations? 5 senses

Day 2-Data Egg B – Quantitative Observations: Length ______ cm – (around middle) Mass ________ g – Qualitative Observations? 5 senses

Question? (Day 2) What happens if the egg is then put into corn syrup?

Hypothesis (Day 2) Answer the following to form your Hypothesis: - What do you think will happen to the egg if it is then put into corn syrup?

Day 2-Procedure 1.Carefully, pour off the vinegar and measure the egg, again. Record in notebook. 2.Rinse beaker and replace egg. Carefully, put egg in labeled beaker and cover with corn syrup. Put in fridge and record observations.

Day 3 Materials: 2 Eggs String Ruler (Metric System) Balance Water

Day 3-Data Egg A – Quantitative Observations: Length ______ cm – (around middle) Mass ________ g – Qualitative Observations? 5 senses

Day 3-Data Egg B – Quantitative Observations: Length ______ cm – (around middle) Mass ________ g – Qualitative Observations? 5 senses

Question? (Day 3) What happens if the egg is then put into water?

Hypothesis (Day 3) Answer the following to form your Hypothesis: - What do you think will happen to the egg if it is then put into water?

Day 3-Procedure 1.Carefully, pour off the corn syrup and measure the egg, again. Record in notebook. 2.Rinse beaker and replace egg. Carefully, put egg in labeled beaker and cover with water. Put in fridge and record observations.

Day 4 Materials: 2 Eggs String Ruler (Metric System) Balance ???

Day 4-Data Egg A – Quantitative Observations: Length ______ cm – (around middle) Mass ________ g – Qualitative Observations? 5 senses

Day 4-Data Egg B – Quantitative Observations: Length ______ cm – (around middle) Mass ________ g – Qualitative Observations? 5 senses

Question? (Day 4) What happens to an egg when it is put into _________?

Hypothesis (Day 4) Answer the following to form your Hypothesis: - What do you think will happen to the egg if it is then put into ___________?

Day 4-Procedure 1.Carefully, pour off the water and measure the egg, again. Record in notebook. 2.Replace egg in beaker and cover egg with a liquid of your choice. Carefully, put egg in labeled beaker. Put in fridge and record observations.

Question? What happens to an egg when it is put into vinegar for a few days? What happens if it is then put into corn syrup and left for a day or two? What happens if it is then put into water?

Hypothesis Answer the following to form your Hypothesis: - What do you think will happen to the egg?

Day 5-Data Egg A – Quantitative Observations: Length ______ cm – (around middle) Mass ________ g – Qualitative Observations? 5 senses
