3 Horticulture Issues – 2007-08 Plantations Adjustment of advances – Progress as per field performance not reflected on web Poor MIP installation – reflects on survival. Watering arrangements under dry land horticulture. All tasks to be completed for I yr before including for II yr maintenance Record maintenance Training to farmers and Paraworkers CIG-group dynamics and transparency in transactions. FA & TA not monitoring Review TA and FA by MPDOs & APOs – Monday meetings Field inspections – Survival Technical trainings and Guidance to farmers atleast once in a quater through Horticulture Officers, MIP Area Coordinators, Plantation Managers and Supervisors.

5 2008-09 Plantations (cont…) Salient features Non-negotiables, criteria for selection of farmers and other principles - instructions issued earlier for 4 crops holds good Plant material tie up - Priority to Government nurseries Detailed instructions issued with nursery wise plant material available,tie up and to be procured from private nurseries Private nurseries after exhausting from Govt. nurseries Follow norms already given for plant material procurement Pulp wood and Oil Palm plantation - firm advance tie up for marketing should be made before taking up the plantation. Plantation shall be taken up only in blocks, each block not less than 50 acres. Pulp wood plantation shall be encouraged only in dry lands.
