1 TROOP 17 SUMMER CAMP JULY 10 -16 2011 CAMP OCKANICKON BUCKS COUNTY PA

2 2 ALL SCOUTS ARRIVE AT 2 PM Medical and medication forms must be returned to Paul Nadler in June 2011 Each Scout is responsible for their own transportation to and from camp, car pooling if possible. Scouts must arrive in CLASS “A” UNIFORMS – –Class A Shirt, scout pants/shorts, neckerchief

3 3 Checking In / Out Our troop can not check in until all Scouts are present All prescription medication must be given to camp Medical Officer during check-in Pick up is 9 AM on Saturday July 16, 2011 Pack a bathing suit and towel at the top of your footlocker (if you need to take the swim test at camp)

4 4 Tents and Knives All Scouts will be sleeping in tents provided by OSR Please do not spray anything in or on the tents All Scouts who are bringing a pocket knife must also carry their Totin’ Chip. If you do not have a Totin’ Chip keep your pocket knife in your footlocker (blades should not exceed 4 inches). Scouts will have an opportunity to earn a Totin’ Chip

5 5 What to Wear During the day Scouts should wear their Class “B” uniform or similar appropriate attire – –Scout pants/shorts + Scout Tee Shirt CLASS “A” UNIFORMS MUST BE WORN TO MEALS – –Shirt, pants, neckerchief

6 6 Uniform Options

7 7 Advancement All first year Scouts will participate in the Dan Beard first year program – –Swimming Merit Badge and 2 more, Totin’ Chip, Cooking, Camping, Outdoor Skills Scouts working on Merit Badges should pay special attention to pre-requisites & complete them before coming to camp. See Ockanickon website for a list of pre- requisites Full curriculum available in May.

8 8 More rules … ALL SCOUTS ARE REQUIRED TO SHOWER AT LEAST EVERY OTHER DAY. BRUSH ONLY THE TEETH YOU WANT TO KEEP No food allowed in TENTS. Not Permitted: Radios, iPods, Walkmans, MP3 players, Gaming systems, DVD players, etc. Scoutmasters will hold on to cell phones. OK List: books, musical instruments, etc.

9 9 Adult Assistance Needed – –Two adults are needed at all times (2-Deep Leadership) – –Three adults are helpful – –Functions include: assistance with merit badge work, interface with camp personnel, supervision, and recreation Not Required to Stay the Entire Week – –Parents can overlap Parents/Adults

Battery-powered lantern 9. 9. Day pack 10. 10. Shower & swimming towel 11. 11. Non-aerosol bug spray, sun screen 12. 12. Money for trading post 13. 13. Personal first aid kit 14. 14. Laundry bag 15. 15. Swim Suit 16. 16. Boy Scout Hat 17. 17. Zip Lock Bag 18. 18. Disposable camera 19. 19. Writing pad pen & pencil 20. 20. Canteen mess kit and drinking cup 21. 21. Mosquito netting, shower curtain or tarp 10 x 10 22. 22. Personal toiletries 23. 23. Clothes line 24. 24. Camp chair 25. 25. Good humor, high spirits 26. 26. Geritol for the Scoutmasters

11 11 One last thing … All boys and adults attending Summer Camp MUST conduct themselves in a manner becoming of a BOY SCOUT, and a member of Troop 17. Parents are not permitted unscheduled visits to camp during the week. Parents who want to visit camp must provide a CLASS 3 Medical Form and register with Paul Nadler by June 6 2011
