2 The Celts were an ethno-linguistic group of tribal societies in Iron age and Medieval Europe who spoke Celtic languages and had a similar culture, although the relationship between the ethnic, linguistic and cultural elements remains uncertain and controversial.

3 The Celts, once dominated the whole of Northern Europe and also some tribes were evident as far south as Greece. The Celts also occupied what we now call Turkey. The word Celt (Kelt) comes from the Greek word Keltoy (pronounced Ketoo) - it refers to Barbarian people to the north of Greece. The Celts are made up of Germanic Tribes - now recognised in such as Britain, Ireland, France (Britanny) and Spain (Basque).

4 The Celts lived as a trading race. throughout Europe, Britain, France Germany and the like. They were large in number but had no Head quaters. they moved freely and lived from the land. they also had a deep spiritual relationship with the earth. But if you are a fan of the Romans, you will believe that the Celts were unwashed and in breaded mongrols. this, is just roman whitewashing. The Celts were masters of Metals. Tin, iron Gold. The Celts did live in small pockets, and in relative peace. Despite being spiritualy and astronomically aware and having a good eye for the arts. These were a savage people in battle! absolutely fearless and deadly!

5 The Celts grew crops in rectangular fields. They raised pigs, sheep and cattle. They stored grain in pits lined with stone or wicker and sealed with clay. The Celts also brewed beer from barley. Trade with Europe was common. Metals like copper, tin, iron and lead were exported from England. Wool, cloth, skins and grain were also exported. Luxury goods like fine pottery and expensive metal goods were imported from Europe. At first the Celts used iron bars as a form of currency but by about 50 BC they were using gold coins.
