2 The Universal Charting Method
There are many ways used to identify teeth inside our mouth. The Universal Charting Method is used to label the teeth in the mouth. This helps dentist find what tooth or teeth has cavities.

3 Universal Numbering System
abbreviated form of identifying the teeth. the tooth has a number or letter to identify it. primary teeth are labeled A-T permanent teeth are 1-32

4 federation dentaire international numbering system
another way to identify the teeth & most common the mouth is divided into 4 quadrants, code numbers are assigned to each quad.

5 continued maxillary right is 5, maxillary
left is 6, mandibular left is 7, and mandibular right is 8. teeth in each quadrant are labeled 1-5 the number of the quad and number of the tooth combined are the code to the tooth.

6 Primary or deciduous teeth
Primary or Deciduous teeth or “baby teeth” form in a baby or a infant. These teeth are form in an early age in childhood, but will be later replaced by the adult teeth in the years to come.

7 Permanent or succedaneous teeth
They are the second set of teeth that come out after the Primary teeth or “baby teeth”. They are the ones that are in everyones mouth when they are an adult.
