2. Growing up Stephen.F. Austin was born on November 3, 1793. Born in Virginia and raised in Southeastern Mississippi. At the age of ten he attended school in Connecticut and graduated in Kentucky. His father’s name was Moses Austin and mother’s name was Maria Austin had a sister named Eliza and a brother named James. When he was five his family moved to Southeastern Missouri.

3. Life Before Alamo He ran a lead mine store which ran successful and a general store. He began studying to be a lawyer at 21 a leglislature of the Missouri territory. He brought 300 families from the United States. His father got a sitio from the government. He was called, “The father of Texas” for his role in bringing anglo Americans to the Mexican province in Texas in the 1820’s.

4. Alamo The Alamo took place in the nineteenth century. Battle was between the Republic of Mexico and the Texan Rebel forces. Took place at the Alamo mission in San Antonio of February and March 1836. In December 1835 Austin was in the new capital in Columbia where he got a severe cold. Austin died of pneumonia at noon on December 27, 1836.
