2 What is the Alamo?  In 1835, Mexican soliders tried to take a cannon away from some Texans in Gonzales, Texas. The Texans fought to keep the cannon. This fight was the start of the Texas Revolution. It was a short, but bloody war.

3 Why did the Alamo start?  The Americans started to be independent, so they started the Texas Revolution. The Alamo was the first battle.

4 What was the Alamo and Where did it take place?  The battle of the Alamo took place in 1836 in San Antonio. It was a terrible fight over a simple cannon. The Mexican army won this battle, but lost the war just a few weeks later.

5 Important Information  The Alamo mission is in San Antonio. The most famous battle was fought there. Texan Rebels were using the mission as a fort at the time.
