3 Comparing Short Adverbs We know that adjectives are used to compare people, places, and things. You can also use adverbs to make comparisons. Add –er to short adverbs to compare two actions. Add –est to compare three or more actions. Examples: fast Goofy skis fast. faster Funny Man skis faster than Goofy does. fastest Scooby and Shaggy ski fastest of all.

4 Comparing -ly Adverbs more most For most adverbs that end with –ly, use more to compare two actions. Use most to compare three or more actions. Examples: gracefully Kristina swam gracefully. more gracefully Did Trent swim more gracefully than Kristina? most gracefully Kevin swam most gracefully of all.
