Safety Briefing By C/CMSgt William Pruitt

Safety for personnel Long pants are required All obstacles will have safety guides in case of emergency. It’s important to stay hydrated: DRINK PLENTY OF WATER. If at any time you feel disoriented or unable to continue, stop and call for aid. For anything else all staff will be clearly marked with bright BLUE tape. Have you turned in your liability waiver form?

The Obstacles Remember: it’s important not to rush through the obstacles. For teams, only one person at a time will be permitted on each obstacle, except: 8’ Wall & Rope Bridge All obstacles will be demonstrated before competing. Save the Baby & the Electric Wire challenges will NOT be demonstrated All obstacles that involve a high jump from the ground have rubber pits, make sure you land in them. *TIP* remember you’re a TEAM: use each other to move forward in this challenge. You can help one another through each challenge.

Low Crawl Remember to keep your head down. Keep your mouth closed so that you do not inhale dirt/dust *TIP* use your knees and elbows to move faster.

SWAT Wall When climbing remember to keep one foot on stairs at all times. Safety observers will be prepared to catch you if you fall When reaching the SWAT wall grab top board and put yourself through the hole remembering to land in the rubber pit. Be careful to not scrape your back on bottom rung

Balance Beam Do not run across it. Make sure to keep good balance to insure safety. When finished jump down and prepare for A Frame

A Frame Get a good running start. Run up and grab the top beam, if unable to we have a safety rope you can use to reach top. When sliding down the other side slide forward and land in pit. Do not slide on the sides of your feet. It will roll your ankle. No more than one at a time

Over Under Over Clear first (medium) by going over carefully. When starting under low structure, lay flat on belly - slide head first. Get a good jump in the next tall structure over. Focus on getting elbows over then fling legs. Land safely in pit.

Rope Line (replaced Shifter) Start with both feet on bottom rope. Walk across slowly one foot after the other Use the grove of your feet to walk across the bottom rope. Hands steady you using top line. To complete you must walk to the end and touch the top of the last post. No more than one at a time

8-Foot Wall Get a good running start. Grab the top beam and hoist yourself up. When landing remember to land in the rubber pit. *TIP* when hoisting yourself up focus on getting your elbows on top; then your feet. No more than two on this at a time. *TIP* your team members can help you over.

Rope Wall When climbing use all feet holes as needed. When at the top, hoist yourself over and start your descent slowly making sure you have proper footing.

High Balance Beam Remember when starting this obstacle the beginning rope ladder is loose so stay low one at a time. Walk slowly across taking your time: don’t rush it. One step at a time. When you reach the end jump into the rubber pit.

Inclined Wall When approaching this obstacle remember its all upper body strength. Start up it as a ladder going up. When you reach the top hoist yourself over and slide down onto the platform. Only one person on the incline at a time; however, the 4-man team can all be on the platform at once.

Rope Bridge Only one person on each section of rope at a time. When crossing use the top two ropes as your balance. *TIP* Watch it because the top two wires are meant to be loose so have a member of the team stay on the platform as each person crosses to steady the ropes. When crossing walk on the sides of your feet to insure better balance. When you reach the Second half another team member can start to cross.

Save the Baby When doing this obstacle remember you cannot put your self immediate danger Further instructions will be given upon arrival at the obstacle. You may not step on any of your team members backs or necks. *TIP* you can use any thing on your person.

STAY SAFE AND HAVE FUN!!!!

Electric Wire Additional information will be given upon arrival at the obstacle. You may not step on each others backs or necks. You may not use anything on your person. Your entire team must stay in contact with each other at all times, or you will be required to start over.

REMEMBER!! Stay hydrated. Land in rubber pits. Call for help if needed. If you need anything staff is clearly marked. Do not rush obstacles. Think before you act. No horse playing around obstacles. Stay away from other teams while it is the other teams run. Don’t forget team work, work together as one to complete the obstacles.
