TWELVE PILLARS By Jim Rohn & Chris Widener

Pillar #1 ~ Personal Development Success comes when you develop yourself beyond where you currently are. Work harder on YOU than on your job. Read books, seminars, study the best… then implement what you learn. 2

Pillar #2 ~ Total Well-Being Body = Health Most people take better care of their pets than they do themselves Soul = our intellect, our emotions, our will Spirit = the part that transcends this world Three-dimensional health: body, soul, spirit 3

Spirit Soul Body 4

Pillar #3 ~ The Gift of Relationships Time, Effort & Imagination must be summoned constantly to keep any relationship flourishing and growing. Relationships are the backbone of our existence Like a garden....needs to be cultivated 5

Best way to build relationships is by giving them TIME…both quality AND quantity You have to see with your imagination what the relationship could be 6

Pillar #4 ~ Achieve Your Goals 1.Have A Goal 2.Write it down **Bucket List (100 things to do in lifetime) Let the Goal make you a better person: “Make a million dollars, not for the million dollars, but for what you will have to become to make a million $$” 7

Set the Goal ~ choose where you want to go Build out your plan for getting there, work backwards to figure it out Get Started!!! 8

Pillar #5 ~ The Proper Use of Time “Every day has many opportunities, but only one best opportunity.” We must all suffer from one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. –Discipline weighs ounces –Regret weighs tons 9

Days are expensive ~ spend each day wisely Your best opportunities are those that align with your overall goals and should be what you spend your time on! Don’t fall into the urgent rather than important time-management trap. “If you don’t design your own plan, chances are you will fall into someone else’s plan.” 10

“In life something will master and something will serve. Either you run the day or the day runs you. Either you control your time or it controls you. Take your pick” 11

Pillar #6~Surround Yourself with the Best Successful people who exhibit & live consistent to values & skills you want to acquire and develop People in your life have an amazing power to influence your destiny 12

Place every person you meet into one of three categories: –Disassociation –Limited association –Expanded association To attract:attractive people you must be:attractive powerfulpowerful committedcommitted Go to work on yourself… If you become, you can attract. 13

Pillar #7 ~ Be A Lifelong Learner “Formal education will make you a living. Self education will make you a fortune.” Self education is the key! 14

To be a lifelong learner: 1.Read books 2.Learn from successful people by observation 3.Constantly reflect on your own experiences and learn what went right and what went wrong 15

Pillar #8 ~ All of Life is Sales It is better to understand sales as the concept of influence. Influence is the key to a successful life Must learn the art & skill of influencing others 17

“There is a natural aristocracy among men, the grounds of which is talent and virtue.” ~ Thomas Jefferson In order to have influence you need to have others perceive you as a person of talent & virtue….how do you do that?? BE A PERSON OF TALENT & VIRTUE 18

What are the skills of sales? 1.Know your stuff To give it you first have to have it 2.Talk to lots of people Qualified people / law of large #’s 3.Be persistent and never take “no” for an answer 19

Pillar #9 ~ Income Seldom Exceeds Personal Development Money doesn’t solve the problems of life What is most important is the person you have to become in the process of becoming a millionaire. You have to love what you become, not love money. 20

Profits are better than wages. As long as you work for someone else you won’t make that much money. Work full time on your job and part time on your fortune. Anything of significance is going to be hard. 21

Financial Independence is the ability to live from the income of your own personal resources. 22

Pillar #10 ~ Communication “All communication is two or more people working together to find the common ground of understanding. And when they find that common ground, they are positioned to have tremendous power together” 23

Communication isn’t just what you say. It is also how you say it, when you say it, and the receptiveness of who you say it to. The other ½ of communication is LISTENING Listening is the most important!! It isn’t the skill of listening that is most important. It is the character behind the skill. You have to care enough and value the other person enough to want to listen. 24

Pillar #11 ~ The World Can Always Use One More Great Leader Leadership = influence To Lead = to help them change their thoughts, beliefs and actions for the better. Leaders talk about what could be (optimistic vision) Relationship built on trust Fill your life with integrity 25

Pillar #12 ~ Leave A Legacy We can make a living or we can design a life Live a life that serves as an example of what an exceptional life can look like Give of yourself Sacrifice for the good of others Take time to help and to teach Be patient, loving, and loyal. 26
