13 Guideline #2 Bring ALL materials to class and take them with you when you leave. Exception: NOTEBOOKS MUST BE LEFT IN THE CORRECT TUB IN CLASSROOM.

27 Entering the Room Please enter quietly and “punch the clock.” Get your notebook out. Sit in your seat without moving any desks. Complete your “Do Now” assignment. 197

28 When you are tardy... Enter quietly (if you just signed in). Go to the office, get a tardy slip and return to class (if you are just “late”). When you return/enter, place your excuse or tardy paper in your inbox without disrupting class. Get your clicker and notebook and get busy.

29 What is “late”... “Late” does not just mean you did not make it into the room on time, “Late” also means you have not followed the procedures for entering the room. I WILL SEND YOU TO GET A TARDY IF YOU ARE NOT FOLLOWING ENTRY PROCEDURES.

30 So, again, when you are tardy... Enter quietly (if you just signed in). Go to the office, get a tardy slip and return to class (if you are just “late”). 34 Professional Behavior & Development You will be assigned “professional development” in and out of class [classwork/homework] You are responsible for completing this. It is given to help you succeed. You are expected to behave professionally

35 Student Responsibility Card “Pink Slip” If you come unprepared.

36 Fill it out. Sign and date it. Turn it in your inbox when you leave.

37 Technology Procedures Place technology on silent and FACE DOWN upon sitting down. Do not touch it again until wrap-up procedures unless I indicate you may. Do not touch another’s technology. If you have been given permission to move, place your technology in your hand or pocket. FACE DOWN as soon as you return to your seat (or to a group-work setting) If you receive a text while I am teaching-gain my permission to check it (by silently pointing to it) and QUICKLY respond. No social media/correspondence, EVER. Period. If I see you on snapchat, twitter, etc. I will immediately remove your technology from your person and turn it into the office at the class break for you to pick up at the end of the school day.

39 Activities Work on unfinished Chemistry assignments. Read your “choice” magazine (front). Work on organizing your notebook. Review your notebook. Start working on tonight’s professional development. Ask me for a job.

40 After an Excused Absence Go to the “Missed a Day” notebook. Copy the missed work onto a page in your notebook. Get your handouts and schedule any test, quiz or major project makeup. Sign the notebook on day(s) you missed. Make-up tests and quizzes: In ESL or by Appointment. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ARRANGE QUIZ/TEST MAKEUP TIMES.

41 Scheduled Check Out Please let me know as you enter the classroom. –I will be in the hall near the door. When the office calls, complete your class wrap up procedures and go without disrupting the class.

42 Turning in Papers (other than notebook) When I ask for them, place your paper on the desk next to you. –Left side If/When you receive a paper, place yours on top and continue passing the stack to your left. I will come by and collect all stacks. 198

43 Classroom Participation I want to hear what you have to say. Make all questions and comments relevant to the current discussion. If your question is off the topic, write it down and ask later. You will receive a participation each week. I will use “Randomizer” to determine these.

44 Moving Around the Room You must ask permission to keep this a stress-free environment. Do not ask during a classroom discussion unless it is an emergency. You may not go to the bathroom unless you have a doctor’s note—DON’T ASK. If you need to sharpen your pencil, simply hold it up and wait for me to nod so you can get up and sharpen it.

45 Classwork and Getting Help If you need help and I am teaching or talking, write down your question and wait until I am finished. Then, raise your hand and quietly wait. CONTINUE WORKING on other parts of the assignment. If you are working in a group or independently, utilize the “ ask three, then me ” rule. Ask three classmates around your area, then me. Do your own work. Copying another’s work is not considered “getting help from a classmate,” It is considered copying another’s work. If you give your work to another to be copied, I will deduct points from your work and contact your guardians. This is not an acceptable practice, as it will not help you learn to material.

46 Class Wrap Up & Dismissal Each day, I will post a “wrap it up” activity that you will complete with your clicker. Complete it and STAY SEATED WITH BACKPACKS BESIDE YOU. Stretch arms and legs if you want, but do not get up. I dismiss you, not the bell. Do not start packing up prior to the bell. Wait until I officially dismiss you with: “You were made to make a difference-make it a good one!”

47 AFTER I Dismiss You: After I officially dismiss you with “You were made to make a difference-make it a good one!” Collect ALL of your items that you brought with you. You may not leave anything in this room other than your notebook. Put your notebook in your tub. YOU MAY NOT TAKE YOUR NOTEBOOK OUT OF THIS CLASSROOM. Turn in any paperwork (including pink slips/closed door meetings) Hang your clicker on the CORRECT HOOK.
