Photosynthesis By Ms. Megan Black
Photosynthesis Photosynthesis is the process of making food by plants The essential ingredients in making this food are sunlight, the chlorophyll that is present in green plants, water and carbon dioxide in the air.
Water is taken in through the roots of the plant and transported to the leaves by the xylem (tubes that carry water) in the stems.
Carbon dioxide animals breathe out from the air goes into the leaves through the tiny pores called stomata and is spreads to the cells that contain chlorophyll in the inside layer of the leaf.
Sunlight is used to break down the water in the plant into oxygen which the plant gives off and we use to breathe.
The hydrogen is then used with the carbon dioxide to create the food for the plants and ultimately food for animals as well.
Photosynthesis is necessary not just for plants to make food for themselves, but for animals, including us eventually.
CHAPTER 1 LESSON 5 Food Making. Words to Know Photosynthesis- the process by which plants produce food. Chlorophyll- the green matter in plants that.

PLANT SURVIVAL plants are organisms that perform certain processes necessary for survival.
Parts Of Plant – Photosynthesis
Photosynthesis & Respiration Energy for Plants & Animals.
The start of a food chain. Energy from the sun comes to earth as light.
But where does the energy come from????
Photosynthesis The Way plants make their own food.
Photosynthesis Review. A series of chemical reactions that produces glucose for plants.
Plant Basic Needs.
Life Science-Plants Part 1 of 2
1.The leaf contains a waxy layer at the top, palisade layer, and spongy mesophyll layer. 2.Guard cells can change the size of stomata 3.The xylem carries.
How Do Plants Produce Food?
Plants People and animals need oxygen to live. Green plants make the oxygen in the air we breathe. How do plants make oxygen? Plants take in carbon dioxide.
Photosynthesis. Objective: After analyzing oral and written text, students will identify and classify the process of photosynthesis and the related vocabulary.
