We use the PRESENT PERFECT We use the SIMPLE PAST for a period of time that continues for finished time in the past from the past until now For example today, this week,since 1967 I have washed my car I washed my car (It is clean now) yesterday. It hasn’t rained this week It didn’t rain last week. I have never visited the USA I visited New York last week.

REMEMBER ! Present Perfect - Describes actions in the past (we don’t know when) with a result NOW (Present ) Past Simple - We know exactly when an action happened in the past, it has nothing to do with NOW (present)
