2. o 3rd March. Helen spends all the the day as she did the previous day before reading the student’s works-in-progress. She is so confused because jumping from one unfinished story to another is difficult. o 4th March. Helen hasn’t had a letter from Lucy. She cannot understand why she has not written and soshe makes a lot of assumptions.

3. o7th March. In the paper there was a long article about Jean Dominique Bauby; he had died. He was a writer and his book was publised to critical acclaim. Helen doesn’t think that she cuold had coped looking after someone in Bauby’s condition. o 8th March. Helen bought a swimming costume to take some exercise at the Sport Center pool. She saw Gloucester Cathedral for the first time.

5. The chapter opens with Helen correcting her students’novels; o At University o In the campus bookshop o Shops in London o Gloucester Cathedral o Cosy Pew Cafè

6. Using the journal, the writer is able to narrate different events occurring in different places; It seems the protagonist wants to tell about her emotions and feelings also making assumptions about what she could have done or what she would have liked to do at that particular time

7. From the Writer’s point of view The use of the journal helps the narrator talk about intimate and private matters. The journal lends itself to be exploiuted in a way that leaves you freedom to tell everything you want without shame and without fear of being judged. From the reader’s point of view Unlike the brain, the journal provides space to tell and express feelings,intimate matters and emotions. You can follow a logical sequence that guides youin reading and understand what you read.
