Let’s Review: All Types of Interviews ●Be prepared, don’t wing it ●Practice common questions ○ forbes.com ○ glassdoor.com ○ usatoday.com ●Know about the company ●Be able to talk about and elaborate on anything on your resume ●Have questions planned to ask at end ●Get enough sleep! Over-preparation for interviews is a bigger mistake than under-preparation. Relax and Be Yourself!

Types of Interviews Tonight, we will cover: ●Traditional Interviews ●Phone Interviews ●Recorded Interviews ●Skype Interviews ●Case Study Interviews

Traditional Interviews

●Can be 2-3 interviewers at once ○ You most likely won’t know ahead of time ●Can have multiple interview in a row ○ Super Day: 3-4 30 minute interviews in a row ●Dress appropriately and have good hygiene ●Have a padfolio, pen and multiple copies of your resume ●Bring additional materials to show your accomplishments

Phone Interviews Have your materials ready! ●You will be able to utilize more sources than during a traditional interview: ●Resume ●Cover Letter ●Brag Sheet/ Master List ●Talking points to cover for anticipated questions Be prepared to talk about anything on your resume! ●Often, you will be asked to “take them through your resume” *Phone interviews still require preparation and practice!*

More on Phone Interviews ❏ Dress up even though you are not being seen! NO PJ’s! ❏ Talk with a smile! You will have a more appealing and friendly tone. ❏ Use the Bathroom. (Sounds Silly but it’s very important) ❏ Utilize resources to your ability. (Company website at hand) ❏ Take advantage of the lack of visibility *but to a certain point.* ❏ Lack of visual cues from interviewer, so stress verbal communication and ask questions.

Does Smiling Really Affect Your Tone? Let’s try it! We need 2 volunteers to test this theory!

Recorded Videos -Dress professionally from head to toe -Position yourself in a well-lit area -Be aware of time limits -Test how you sound -Know about the company -Smile and be yourself!

Recorded Interviews Continued ●Make your thoughts clear and points easy to follow ●Know what you want to get out of the company and what you have to offer ●Practice! (Live Demos) ■ Taketheinterview.com

Skype Interviews Article: “6 Steps to Prepare for a Skype Interview” o http://www.glassdoor.com/blog/6-steps-prepare-skype-interview/ Skype Interviews Are: Increasingly common More reliable than phone interviews- allows the interviewer to have a conversation face-to-face Just as with any type of interview, make sure you have your resume and other materials on hand

Skype Interviews Make sure username is appropriate Look into the camera and maintain eye contact with the interviewer Dress like you would to a regular interview Make sure the surrounding areas are quiet dont have anything in the background that will distract the interviewer from you Run a practice round with friends to make sure the microphone works

Case Study Interviews ●You will not always know ahead of time ●What to Expect: ○ Handle both qualitative and quantitative information to make decisions ○Bring classroom concepts and theories into practice through the case ○Potentially work with other teams ○Be prepared to present your findings and be poised while presenting Its not necessarily about if you get the right answer, but HOW you answer the question!
