CCC Outward signs instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church to give grace. The visible rites by which the sacraments are celebrated signify and make present the graces proper to each sacrament. They bear fruit in those who receive them with the required dispositions.

CCC 1216 – Baptism is God’s most beautiful and magnificent gift…We call it gift, grace, anointing, enlightenment, garment of immortality, bath of rebirth, seal, and most precious gift.

CCC 1268 – The baptized have become “living stones” to be “built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood.” By Baptism they share in the priesthood of Christ, in his prophetic and royal mission. They are a “chosen race….that they may declare the wonderful deeds of him who called them out of darkness into his marvelous light. Baptism gives a share in the common priesthood of all believers.

CCC 1285 –The reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. For by the sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched by a special strength of the Holy Spirit.

Special strength to spread and defend the faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ and to never be ashamed of the cross

This giving of the Holy Spirit conforms believers more fully to Christ and strengthens them so that they may bear witness to Christ for the building up of his Body in faith and love
One of the highest responsibilities of the people of God is to prepare the baptized for confirmation
It is desirable for the godparent at baptism also be the sponsor at confirmation. This expresses more clearly the link between baptism and confirmation (SC)
