3. Irregular commands n n The 7 irregular positive commands are: n n Hacer (haz) n n Ir (ve) n n Poner (pon) n n Salir (sal) n n Ser (sé) n n Tener (ten) n n Venir (ven)

6. NEGATIVE COMMANDS n n To tell someone what NOT to do, you should use negative, informal commands

7. Rule for formation: n n No = Yo – O n n Do not forget what you owe!

8. Rules for formation: n n For AR verbs: – –Start with the ‘yo’ form – –Drop the final ‘o’ from the conjugated verb – –Add an ‘es’ to the verb. n n For example: “COMPRAR” – –Compro – – compr – – no compres

9. n n “SALIR” – –SALGO – – SALG – –NO SALGAS n “CORRER” –CORRO – CORR –NO CORRAS For ER and IR verbs: Same process, but add an ‘as’ to the verb.

10. IRREGULARS!! n n There are only 3 verbs that are irregular as negative commands: – –Dar (to give)  no des – –Ir (to go)  no vayas – –Ser (to be)  no seas

11. PRACTICE!!! n n Don’t eat a lot of fat. – –No comas mucha grasa. n n Don’t sleep late. – –No duermas tarde. n n Don’t smoke. – –No fumes. n n Don’t go to the party. – –No vayas a la fiesta.

12. Object and reflexive pronouns with negative commands Pronouns can be attached to positive commands: Levántate y búscalo. (Get up and look for it.) But, Pronouns must be in front of a negative command: No te levantes y no lo compres. (Don´t get up and don´t buy it.)
