Our Goal To ensure that every school provides a comprehensive school physical activity program with quality physical education as the foundation so that youth will develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to be physically active for a lifetime
Physical Education: The Foundation Students learn knowledge and skills in physical education… and need opportunities to apply these skills throughout the school environment.
What are the key messages of Let’s Move in School?
Message #1 Let’s Move in School helps youth achieve 60 minutes of physical activity before, during, and after school to improve health and academic performance.
Message #2 Let’s Move in School brings together national education leaders to redefine school- based physical activity and offer new leadership opportunities for physical education teachers.
Message #3 Let’s Move in School equips physical education teachers, administrators, school boards, and parents with tools to create an active learning environment.

Celebration Benefits Generate awareness and support for physical activity before, during and after school Engage teachers, principals, parents, school officials, and students in fun and positive activities Garner positive media coverage for physical education and physical activity efforts
Celebration Benefits Initiate planning for the school year First 10,000 schools to register will receive a LMIS poster First 1,000 schools to conduct at least 12 activities (from Menu of Activities) during National Physical Education and Sport Week and answer a post-Celebration survey will receive a LMIS banner
Celebration Ideas visit for a complete listwww.LetsMoveinSchool.org Conduct an all-school “Wake Up Warm Up” during morning announcements Invite the principal to participate in physical education class Host a family fitness night Have students make posters to feature favorite activities Equip teachers with classroom activity breaks Feature physical activity information in the parent newsletter

Grassroots Action Partnership Kansas Health Foundation In collaboration with AAHPERD/NASPE and Kansas AHPERD Providing 200 schools with LMIS Toolkits Offering scholarships for 200 physical education teachers (from 200 schools) to participate in Director of Physical Activity Certification Program.

District AAHPERDs and State AHPERDs: Action Items 1.Access information and resources from 2.Promote LMIS to constituents and partners 3.Adopt LMIS in your state/community – Provide schools with LMIS Toolkits – Support participation in the Director of Physical Activity Program – Promote existing programs and events as part of LMIS initiative
